Trapping

Using the AccliMate™ for TRAPPING

Preparing for Trapping

1. If you’ll be trapping a fish, be sure you’ve tied the provided release line to one end of the
AccliMate’s™ lid according to the Setup Guide.

2. Have suitable bait ready to go for the animal you want to catch.

Trapping FISH with the AccliMate™

1. Place the appropriate bait inside the AccliMate™ and slide on the lid.

2. Lower the AccliMate™ in the aquarium so that the lid can be raised and lowered vertically using the
attached fishing line. As you’re lowering the AccliMate™, slide the lid open slightly to allow the unit to
fill with aquarium water, but not too much to avoid losing the bait. Once the unit has filled with water
and is in place, the lid can be slowly pulled open and held steady to set the trap. Be careful not to
remove the lid completely. Leave at least one to two inches of the lid’s length inside the guide tracks.

Notes: The suction cups provided can be used to secure the AccliMate™ to the inner wall of the
aquarium. This allows you to adjust the trap height to a level appropriate for a particular species and
not another. Depending on the method of release you prefer, the AccliMate’s™ inner tank may be
placed inside the outer tank for trapping.

After each use, the AccliMate™ tank should be thoroughly rinsed in clear water and dried with a soft,
non-abrasive cloth to avoid scratching the acrylic surfaces of the unit.

Trapping BRISTLEWORMS with the AccliMate™

To use as a bristle worm trap, place the inner AccliMate™ box upside down into the outer box. Drop
in some bait through the inner box drain holes, now on top, and lower into the aquarium. The
bristleworms will crawl in through the inner box drain holes to go after the bait. Once in, they’re caught!

After each use, the AccliMate™ tanks should be thoroughly rinsed in clear water and dried with a soft,
non-abrasive cloth to avoid scratching the acrylic surfaces of the unit.
